Worthing Pizza express have not only spruced up their interior, but have enhanced their atmosphere and eating experience with FREE Thursday night live music. Think an intimate setting with a close quarter acoustic set whilst relaxing with their delicious new menu with dishes such as ‘The Meaty fine basilicata’ and the Molten Chocolate Fondant. Food and music are most people’s favourite things and specifically for Joe and I, it is top of our list.
Stanford Square in Worthing is already the perfect setting for a date, and my local Pizza Express boasts a two floor Restaurant, with a heated alfresco area in a Grade 2 Georgian House, offset from the High Street. I began our date with an amaretto and coke, sqiftly followed by Prosecco, and mixers for Joe. We consistently never fail to have eyes bigger than our bellies and decided beforehand that we were going to have three courses. To share we ordered my favourite sharer starter-
Classic Italian Antipasto
Italian meats: Finnochiona, Coppa, Milano salami and spicy Calabrese sausage D.O.P; with olives, marinated aubergine, roasted tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, sweet Peppadew peppers and dough baked with Gran Milano cheese, accompanied by garlic butter and pestorissa, a harissa and tomato dip.
Our starter was placed at our table, and as I looked around at my surroundings, the Restaurant was more lively and bustling than I’ve ever seen it before. The band prepared themselves for the evenings entertainment, and the room was filled with the sound of excitable chatter and incredible cover songs. Our starter was just as good, nothing beats sharing a plate of hand-made, fresh ingredients that are cooked and seasoned right before your eyes.
For our mains we both decided on Pizza, as I am forever feeling regret when I opt for an alternative. I picked the Leggera Padana £10.75, as I am a huge fan of Goats Cheese and didn’t fancy anymore meat after the starter. Joe didn’t quite feel the same as me however and fancied the American.
There’s no denying that Pizza Express makes delicious, handmade pizza and what I love the MOST, is the huge variety of options they offer their customers, making them suitable for even fussy dates!

After a beautiful, but buzzing atmosphere created by the live acoustic band, we thought that we should try and squeeze in a dessert out of principal! Joe ordered my favourite- Chocolate Brownie £5.85, and I slowly decided on a Cheesecake £5.55 to round off the meal. I never need a dessert when I order one, but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy it nonetheless.
I really enjoy Pizza Express as a date night option during Winter, as the food is such a great price, fresh and delicious and the free live music on Thursday nights is just a HUGE bonus! If you haven’t checked it out or seen it, pop to their website here and see if it’s in your local Pizza Express.
