I am disappointed at the lack of a Summer this year, so when a hot weekend comes along it has to be taken advantage of. I went on a bit of a warm weather rampage and did a HUGE clothes haul as I seemed to only have an abundance of jumpers and jeans to choose from. Wrap skirts and stripes are my two favourite trends of this season so when I spotted this dress on the New Look site I was instantly in love but not sure if it would age me in a negative way. As I am short I wouldn’t usually opt for a midi length but paired with sandals and a cinched in waist I feel that it balances itself out nicely.
My first and main inspiration for this purchase was a money off incentive, but that aside I felt an emotional attachment to the piece (hear me out). Like a lot of the trends cycling the catwalks they have inspiration from the past, and much like this shirt dress it reminds me of a 1980’s piece. My Grandma has always been a huge Fashion inspiration to me as she has always kept herself looking impeccable, and there is a photograph of her taking my Dad and Uncle on a holiday wearing a dress strikingly similar to this. As soon as I clicked at the connection I knew it was a beautiful similarity and I would think of her when I was wearing it. Buying inspiration aside it also fits me perfectly, and I am sure you can all agree that when online shopping this is a real rarity. Unfortunately this baby is now sold out, and no wonder as I got it at the amazing price of £9 (OMG, I know), but I have found some very cute alternatives that I might just have to nab myself.
