Boohoo: Dress for Autumn

I love fashion. I think it’s so important, because it’s how you show yourself to the world.

Last week Boohoo challenged me to their ‘Dress for Autumn’ campaign which entailed choosing my favourite dress off their website and styling it into three different outfits. I had the choice of Boohoo layering and accessories for my chosen looks and also existing pieces from my wardrobe. Luckily for me it didn’t take too long to come up with my outfit ideas as I already had physical and mental lists of the Petite range that had been building up pretty rapidly! I opted for this high neck shift dress as it provides a lot of versatility for different looks despite being a  perfect evening dress.

Boohoo sure know how to treat a girl and amongst my package of beautiful clothing goodies I came across  the Frank Body ‘Original Tough Body Scrub’ and maaannnn it smells amazing! I was a little apprehensive about using it in case it was too harsh on my skin but I even used it on my face and was left with silky, soft skin top to toe. I haven’t fake tanned for a long time but now it’s getting colder and I was already preened and prepped I thought- why not pop on the fake bake? I instantly felt a million times better; I make no apologies for not being able to fully embrace my pale skin.

After my pampering session I got down to business- ie styling my dress for an evening/going out look (it’s a hard life I gotta say ;)) Despite the dress coveting print that didn’t persuade me to shy away from mixing other prints into the outfit.

Despite Pete’s persistence on pink being my favourite colour I think I only have two pink items in my wardrobe – my biker jacket and an embellished Winter jumper. That being said it was refreshing to opt for a pastel shade rather than pairing my reliable, black leather jacket over the top. I made a pact with myself to wear more colour this season and am trying my hardest to stop fearing colour clashes with my hair.

After ditching the acrylics I have paid a lot more attention to my nails lately and for an evening look I thought that red nails would be perfect. The shade I have used is Nails Inc ‘The Boltons’ in gel effect to pair with my large clutch bag with a contrasting print, it’s the Summer seasons from George but is a really great size to fit everything you need for a night out (well for me at least!)##7 ##8##5

One contrasting print was clearly not enough as I just had to wear my New Look block heels. I am absolutely infatuated with platform and chunky heels this season- they are comfy, make me look taller AND feature my favourite snakeskin print which is becoming a bit of an unhealthy obsession for me! The heels cement this as an evening wear piece and I can only hope that we don’t have to endure too much of a bitter Autumn as I love t-bars and peep toes too much.

So there you have it, my new favourite dress from the Boohoo petite collection styled as an evening wear piece. Look out for part two to see my daytime styling

  1. Jess this post has made me want to do a Boohoo haul!! I adore the neckline on this dress- it looks so lovely on you, especially with your high bun 🙂 The jacket looks fab with it too and I can imagine it looking equally as lovely styled casually. Also- how good is Frank? I am obsessed with it- I use it every time before I fake tan. And it smells like a lush latte
