There’s something about owning a hip flask that makes you feel part of an elite club, and with SWIG you don’t just feel special you become a member of the SWIG SOCIETY as soon as you make a purchase. I am #3694 which permits me to a lifetime membership to the club, (it basically just makes you feel special), especially when the UK Prime Minister is a member too (love him or hate him….I get it!). SWIG was set up by David Galbreith (he’s on Twitter HERE and is super lovely) in 2013 producing impeccable steel Hip Flasks with a range of leather pouches and my absolute favourite pattern that’s part of the Tweed range. David was influenced by his Northern Irish upbringing and wanted to provide a ‘fresh and reliable gift’ around the world.
The SWIG flask I opted for was the ‘Harris Tweed- Scot Flask‘, I felt inspired by the current politics and also fell in love with the blue tweed design(…thinking of a scarf in this fabric next!). It’s a new addition to the Hip Flask collection and is handmade on the Isle of Skye which gives a really nice authentic feel to the piece, if that wasn’t enough already it uses Harris Tweed sourced from the weavers and mills on the Isle of Lewis and Harris-talk about love and care!
I feel like there has become a stereotype for a certain type of person to own a hip flask and I want to campaign to BANISH it! I have always been one to carry my alcohol in a flask for festivals (I know I shouldn’t tut tut), for when I want to add a sneaky glug with a mixer and also for the very rare picnic I get to indulge in. Just because you’re young or female doesn’t mean that you can’t own one, in fact I predominantly chose mine based on its stylish look which is definitely something I think SWIG embody- fashionable, classic pieces.
Engraving is available on the flasks which adds a nice personal touch whether it’s a deserving gift to yourself or someone else. They hold 170ml of liquid whilst retaining a seamless body so there is no chance of any unexpected leakages- that would be awful! The bottom is also flat so it can be stood upright, which comes in handy when you want it with your picnic spread, and I would advise you make a combined purchase of the SWIG funnel too, just in case you are really clumsy like me and don’t want to spill any precious alcohol when you are filling it up.
The flasks arrive gift wrapped, ribbon tied and feature your personal membership number engraved on the flask. If for any reason you aren’t happy (but they are gorgeous?!) then they do allow a 30 day return period as long as it’s in a re-sellable condition, flexibility on order cancellations are no problem, a variety of currencies are accepted AND there are no export restrictions which is great as I know some of my readers are international and hate it when a product is clamped down to just UK.
Don’t forget, my flask is currently reduced from £69 to £49 which is an awesome price for an authentic, quality piece that would make a perfect gift in time for Fathers Day- I might even be able to get myself organised this year!
